Tangents, an independent concert series created and ran by young musicians, explores the many approaches to the contemporary guitar. Our inaugural season will feature six dynamic acts, each presenting a program of new and recent music for guitar, solo and in ensemble. From seductive microtonality to mesmerizing minimalism, and from austere post-serialism to rock-influenced grooves, our selections run the gamut of the “Art music” repertoire in the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.

Tangents hopes to bring new music to new audiences, catering to guitar aficionados as well as to the general public; our concerts will feature spoken introductions to the program, providing context and insights into the music, while creating a more collegial and relaxed listening environment.
